HISTORY OF PARCHMENT CRAFT
I would like to tell you about a beautiful craft called pergamano. This is a craft which started in Europe and later spread to south America, in the 14th-15th century. It originally was worked by nuns, monks and novices, and the designs were religious in nature. As printing became possible, more designs were later introduced.
WHAT IS PARCHMENT CRAFT?
A design is traced onto parchment paper using white pencil or ink, this is then embossed from the back of the paper using an embossing tool. Various other tools are also used, which give different effects and dimension. The effect you get from this craft is stunning, from intricate grid work to delicate lace work. You can also use various mediums to give color to your work, such as watercolor pencils, chalks, inks, oil pastels and paints, plus many more.
